I attended the public meeting of West Lindsey District Council's planning committee tonight to speak against the proposal to move the grave of Guy Gibson's dog.
RAF Scampton is one of the most historic airfields in the history of the Royal Air Force. From the Dambusters Raid to the Red Arrows, this history is something we must preserve and protect as Scampton transitions out of defence use.
The MOD's proposal to move the dog's grave is unacceptable and was universally opposed at the meeting I'm glad to report.
I was glad to see the Chair of Scampton Holdings Ltd also present. We are pressing Home Office ministers to meet urgently so that as much of the site at Scampton is handed over to our £300-million regeneration deal.
The Home Office only plans to use eight per cent of Scampton if its proposals to house illegal migrants there are allowed to go ahead.
But we are fighting it in the courts as well as politically at Westminster to secure a vibrant and productive future for Scampton.
