We had a meeting at Kexby Village Hall with a mock-up of the four-metre-high solar panels that will cover 10,000 acres of good land if proposals go ahead.
This would be more solar panels in one district than in the rest of the East Midlands put together.
If we took this amount of acreage we could feed two cities the size of Hull every year.
If we wanted to provide the whole of the UK with enough energy provided purely by solar panels we'd have to cover an area the size of Northern Ireland
We are committed to fighting them and we’ve got a good chance of succeeding.
I am also arguing for ministers to expand the protections that exist for agricultural land graded 1, 2, or 3a so that they protect grade 3b land as well.
