The House of Commons has voted to approve my appointment to the board overseeing the Restoration and Renewal of the Palace of Westminster.
I have been a vocal critic of the first drafts of the plan to renovate the Palace and have repeatedly pointed out that they are financially wasteful, environmentally unsound, and needlessly destructive of our listed architectural heritage.
My appointment shows that the Government is taking seriously the scrutiny my colleagues and I have presented, and I hope to be a productive and useful member of the Sponsor Body.
Last night the House of Commons approved my appointment to the Sponsor Body overseeing @Parliament_RR.
