Sir Edward Leigh, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Gainsborough, has written to the head of LNER pressing for an update on the railway’s plan for a daily direct return service between Market Rasen and London.
“The Government confirmed in the House last week that it is committed to introducing this service,” Sir Edward said. “My friend the Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers and I have been campaigning for this service for years now.”
“I have written to David Horne, the Chief Executive of LNER, asking for an update on progress,” the MP continued. “I understand there are still some changes and investigations which need to take place before this service can be introduced.”
Sir Edward joined Mr Horne in Market Rasen last year when the railway ran a validation run to test the viability of the daily return service starting at Cleethorpes and ending in London.
