Sir Edward: Civil Servants Backed Dropping Scampton Plan

Today I questioned why the Home Office is pursuing its plans to house illegal migrants at Scampton when its own civil servants recommended against it.

They suggested the Home Secretary "agree to stop work on proposals for RAF Scampton" and notify West Lindsey that it was being taken off the list of sites being considered.

Instead, these foolish plans might scupper our £300-million-pound regeneration deal.

I will continue to oppose the Home Office proposal.
