Sir Edward Leigh today pressed Foreign Officer ministers regarding the case of Maira Shahbaz, the Pakistani girl who was kidnapped, forcibly married, raped, and then escaped.

Miss Shahbaz and her family are now living in hiding in a single room surviving on one meal a day because of violent threats against their lives.

Sir Edward pointed out that the United Kingdom gives hundred of millions of pounds in aid to Pakistan and that this must become contingent upon their government securing the rights and freedoms of Pakistan's religious minorities.

Maira Shahbaz is still living in hiding. She was kidnapped, forcibly married, raped, escaped, and now lives in fear.
